Step into a world of creativity and repurposed beauty, where every fabric scrap can be transformed into thoughtfully and meticulously designed clothing. At ROBERTS | WOOD, we're obsessed with the making process, as a way to constantly explore and develop techniques and of textile design and garment construction. Each month we are exploring one of our designs in our Featured Design series and this month we are featuring the Bow Patchwork Dress with Shoulder Ties.

Crafted with precision and attention to detail, the Bow Patchwork Dress is captivating exploration of pattern cutting and garment construction. With its unique bow patchwork patten, there are infinity possibilities to tell a unique story using colour, texture, and craftsmanship. The dress is finished with cute shoulder tie straps, which provide a charming accent that elevates the overall aesthetic and give the dress a lot of flexibility for styling as a standalone item or as a layering piece.

Our Bow Patchwork Dress offers three distinct waist options to cater to different preferences. Whether you like the more fitted shape of the “original” waist design or the laid-back comfort of the "relaxed waist" or "super relaxed waist” design, which add either a little or lot of extra room at the waist, each option ensures a fit that embraces the silhouette that works best with your style.

Playing with patterned fabric

We made this version using a mixture of salvaged and remnant stripped and checked silks and cotton fabrics. This version is made with lots of different colours and patterns, so to prevent the garment from looking to overwhelming and too complicated, we focused on using a tonally similarly and complimentary colour palatte and used the same fabric grouping across individual bow patterns.  This version is made during the “Super-relaxed” waist design. A focus on textiles.

For this version we used a monochrome white and off-white palette but played about with different textures and transparencies. We mixed different cotton broderie anglaise designs with swiss cotton and lightwight plain cotton voile. This version features the “original” waist design. See more about this version here

Delicate Statement Pieces
